Whipman Programme 2019

Sunday 26th May
10.30am: Junior Whipman Rideout – Open to capable riders from P5 – S4 who reside in the parish

Friday 31st May
6.00pm: Floats gather on the Lower Green
6.30pm: Float Judging Commences (see page 10 for details)
7.00pm: Installation of Whipman and Lass in the Marquee on the Lower Green. Please come along and show your support.
8.00pm: Grand Procession of Principals and Floats led around the village by the newly installed Whipman and Lass, Guy and Delia and the West Linton & District Pipe Band.

Saturday 1st June
10.00am SHARP: Whipman Rideout Leaves Village led by West Linton & District Pipe Band. HARD HATS WITH CHIN STRAPS MUST BE WORN and BACK PROTECTORS ARE ADVISABLE. ALL RIDERS MUST STAY BEHIND THE MARSHALS AND FOLLOW THEIR INSTRUCTIONS THROUGHOUT THE RIDE. Rideout starts from Howieson Hall, Station Road. There will be a map of the route available to follow the Rideout by car and watch the races. Garvald lunch stop – Everyone welcome.
10.30am: Fancy Dress Competition at the Marquee. Fancy Dress Prize giving in the Marquee directly after judging.
1.00pm: Junior Fun Day on the Lower Green.
3.30-4pm approx: Rideout Returns

Sunday 2nd June
10.00am: Cycle Rideout Meet at the Health Centre. Leave 10.30am Fun for all the family and all levels of fitness. Please bring a pack lunch.
10.45am: Procession from School Brae to St Andrew’s Church led by West Linton & District Pipe Band School Brae
11.15am: Whipman Service St Andrew’s Church, West Linton
12.30pm: Adult 5-a-Side Football New Moor Road. Teams by invitation, Contact: Campbell Forsyth
1.00-3.30pm: Dog Show (no puppies under 6 months) Lower Green. Cream Teas Served

Monday 3rd June 
(All events will be held on the Lower Green, unless stated)
5.30-6.30pm: Kids Football (P1-P4)
5.30-6.30pm: Cycle and Scooter events* (P5-S1 to age 14)
6.30pm: Junior Football (P5 – age 15)
6:30pm: Junior Netball (P5 – age 14) at the Tennis Courts
6.30pm: Cycle and Scooter events* (up to Nursery and P1-P4)
7.30pm: Men’s Bike Event/Women’s Bike Event
8.00-9.00pm: Ladies Netball at the Tennis Courts

Tuesday 4th June
9.30am: West Linton Tea & Tots Fun Morning in the Marquee
6.00-9.00pm: Junior Disco in the Marquee Organised by PTA
6.00-7.15pm: Not yet at School – P3
7.30-9.00pm: P4 – P7

Wednesday 5th June
(All events will be held on the Lower Green)
6.30pm: Cross Country Events
7.00pm: Bogie Races (Cycle helmets to be worn)
7.30pm: Wheelbarrow Race; Adults (All Wheelbarrows must be decorated)
8.00pm: Women’s Pillow Fight/Men’s Pillow Fight

Thursday 6th June
(All events will be held on the Lower Green)
3.45-4.45pm: Comedy Show by Over The Lyne Comedy Club. Kids show for Primary School kids, 3.45pm to 4.45pm with a family ticket £5.00.
6.00pm: Junior Rugby (P1-P7)
7.00pm: Secondary Rugby for S1 – S6 years years
7.00pm: Comedy Show by Over The Lyne Comedy Club. Doors open 7.00pm, show starts at 7.30pm tickets from Rumbling Tams.

Friday 7th June
7.00pm: Dinner Dance in the Marquee. Organised by the Ex-Whipmen

Saturday 8th June
10.00am: 7-a-side Hockey at West Linton Primary School: Boys & Girls P6 – Age 15 followed by Adults v. Kids.
1.00pm: Whipman Procession led by the West Linton & District Pipe Band starts at the School, walking around the village to end at War Memorial where the Whipman will lay a wreath at approx. 1.25pm.
1.30pm: Sports Day Opened by Whipman and Lass on the Lower Green. Cream Teas available in the Marquee.
1.30-5.00pm: Second Hand Book Sale in the Marquee. In aid of Global Brigades.
6.00pm: ‘Whipman Market’, Market Stalls, Food, Outside Bar. Stalls and Side-Shows on the Lower Green.
7.00pm: Junior and Adult Tug O’ War.
8.15pm: Presentation of Cups and Trophies by the Whipman’s Lass followed by the draw for the Grand Raffle.
